How does ethnocentricity cause conflict?

When the British arrived to a place called ‘Walang’ which is now called as Sydney, they met a tribe of people. Hence, the British called them, the ‘First Australians’ and even called as the aboriginals. The First Australians were black, and believed in spirits of souls of the nature and had different lifestyles. They did not have clothes on but hold spears in their hands which seemed barbarous. The British’s target was to try to connect and interact with the native Australians wisely. However, their culture to Britain’s culture was totally different so they could not adapt to their settlement each other. Plus, British’s discrimination and bias perspectives, caused by ethnocentrism to the natives, leaded to the unsuccessful result of their achievement. Furthermore, many of the disrespectful British still thought that natives were violent and wild savages. Effects by these aspects were that British decided to push native Australians away from their homeland, Sydney. Thus, British dug all the native crops and replaced British’s familiar crops like corns and potatoes. On top of that the change in their living, caused by another effect, was unacceptable to British so they determined to set ethnocentric views. However, their ethnocentric views caused a huge problem. While Bennelong was gone to England, the balance of the tribe and power became weak. The First Australians were starving because of lacking food supplies. They could not eat other crops and could not have rights to plant their native crops. A man called ‘Pemulwuy’ could not ignore this situation so he took such a brave actions to revenge. His strategy was to set fire on British’s farms and crops. As this kept happening British was furious. They ferociously killed Pemulwuy and put his head in the beer jar, than sent it to their home country which showed their victory. Unfortunately, the First Australians could not give any of their traditional burial because his head was gone. After few ages, British execute a number of First Australians who lived around the surface of Australia and kidnapped their children. The British was also racism. For instance, they educated the native Australian children and got them married to whites so that they can be whiter. By their greediness to get settled on the lands, they forced some tribes of people to go over the fence so that they can never come back to their own land. Consequently, the British colonizers were selfish, violent, bias and unsympathetic to the culture of the First Australians. If they had ignored their ethnocentric views and accepted the different lifestyle of the First Australians, the war and severe relationships could be prevented. Ethnocentricity should be abandoned.

The Rabbits

Write a well-developed paragraph explaining what you believe is the most important message of "The Rabbits." You will be sharing your paragraph with your table group.

My opinion ahead to the story might be different or wrong but I portrayed an image of Australians and British to prove my view of important message. The numbats symbolizes the Western Austrailans and the fassions of Rabbits are similar to British. Furthermore, the life style and equipments they use are totally different. This way I knew that this story is going to be similar to the history of Australia. To give an short summary of "The Rabbits", the rabbits came over to the new land and start to colonize. Rabbits just started to build their new industries and buildings. They fought but the numbats lost, than the rabbits took over their whole land. Numbets were genocided. Then, the numbats couldn't stop the rabbits. I believe that this book's most important message is that people's ambition is too greedy and if they keep doing it, they will not able to stop them. Thus, before someone does something which ruin the others' entire lives, someone should fight against them to stop like an hero.

Julius Caesar: Solo/Duet Performance Assesment

For this Julius Caesar Performing Assesment, I chose Brutus to perform alone. Act 3.2, line 12 -31 is what I am going to perform. In this scene, Brutus killed Caesar in front of Pompey's statue in the Senate and is convincing public to be on his side. He sets his honour and justice in his speech and patriotism for people to make sure that he did right thing to kill Caesar.

It is significant because this quote shows lots of Brutus' honor, brave and arragont. Furthermore, in this scene, he becomes very sneaky, cunning and forceful to the publiens. He shows his patriotism to cast that it was all for the general good of Rome to have liberty, freedom and justice. If he did not say these out to Romans, they could not belive in him that killing Caesar was right to be all free men. They also would not honour him and have respect him because Brutus was Caesar's friend. Killing friendship to the dead line is likely as terrible murder. Therefore, Brutus was so passionate and loyal that he could change crime to murder like an alchemist.

Learning Profiles

I learn best when I focus o details. Processes by analysis, verbalization, and writing. So I am able to pick up the details of information through the eyes and ears even under stress. Following step-by-step and auditory instructions is easy for me to learn about the topics and any writings. However, I am very emotional who can't control himself without any help from people. When I am under stress, I can't focus on big image or space and when people are talking I am not able to listen to the person who is talking over me. It's also my problem that I can not control myself but it is not easy. Therefore, I hope people understand well that I have troubles.

I need to be encouraged to understand and synthesize information from a whole perspective, ad explore ambiguity, emotions and movement. Furthermore, positive, enjoyable sensory-motor experiences will help develop the skills necessary to emotionally interact and fully access imagination, creativity and intuitive introspection. So when the condition of class is negative, I become clumsy, nervous and sad. Thus, the strategies that would help me in my learning is to encourage me to understand by facing to me with positive atmosphere.

I would like my teachers to know this about me that when the trouble comes, I get into serious emotion and look other point of my view or do something else. Then I listen really carefully to the instruction. I think that telling my teacher to leave me alone is very harsh. However, this is my way that I listen to the speaker. Furthermore, I don't make noises or actions that disturb class.

La Premavera by Botticelli

La Premavera, the painting that was drawn by Sandro Botticelli who was the famous Italian artist in Florence in 1478. It has a specific description that represents Venus celebrating the Allegory of Spring which means the arrival of spring. For this painting, Botticelli utilized the tempra on wood, the technique of mixing color paintings with combining the eggs. Furthermore, he added facial expressions, sfumato and the background which values the quality of the art that makes the mood of this art dark but delight.

As you can see, in this painting, there is Venus in the middle of the painting. To left side of our sight, we can see three women who are putting their hands and facing each other which informs us of the celebration of Florence. These three women were targeted by Eros' cubided arrows which make them to fall in the beauty of love. Eros is right above Venus. The other characters are the Greek mythology characters. The most important character among them is Mercury who is on the left side of our view. The reason why is, in this painting, the artist was perhaps trying to show us that he was controlling the clouds to move so the spring is able to come.

Botticelli drew this painting when Juliano de Medici and Simonetta were having a marriage. His main efforts to draw this painting was the love between them which could blame as Eros and Venus. The other significant point of the painting with his efforts was that, it is not about the christianity which should be the one of the story in the bible. Botticelli's purpose was to create and draw the new topic of the arts in Renaissance period. It means, he created the secularism. Therefore his creation from his art, 'La Premavera' gave artists and people to think about the new discover of art. The advantages of being away from the religious painting. From this period, La Premavera developed the freedom of art to become further away from the religion. This made other artists to paint their work with new techniques and knowledges into their real life that sometimes included the pious. They even made their own styles of art and shared their ideas of techniques with people and foreigns. In the conclusion, Botticelli's art affected the christianity to be weakened and the humanism and the secularism to be constructed more and more which made the set of the 'Freedom'.

Driving Forces of the Renaissance

( Venice ) ( Florence )

Rivalry would be the most driving force of the renaissance which could mention lots of changes. Architectures and structures were the example of increasing the rivalry between the city-states. The reason why was the beauties and attractiveness of anicient people's inventions were tempting lots of popularity. For example, if people believes Florence was much safe and beautiful place to live as likely as birds and butterflies flowing in the air than Venice, they would come over to Florence. Therefore this effected the technics on building and designing the structures and either adding some of their ancient shapes for the details. Because of rivalry, they could develop faster than they would have without the rivalry.

My Object

Turning on an electricity for long time wastes money, your time and your health so stop visiting sites and hitting my parts of keyboard. Time equals to a gold, use your time wisely. From now on, I really prefer you to know what you do and stop those actions which always make my life harm.

First of all, you always smash me with your fists and shut me down with buttons. Those stuffs make me so angry and hot. I sometimes hear so many materials taggling each other in the machine. After that, this is what I get, some of smoke in the machine release out so badly because of the small holes on the pipe and some of gears glow because it will be working really fast. Then I have to calm it down with smelling all the pollutions which will also make my network connections to a mental retard.

Next, everyday when I send you a message to upgrade my protection system, you just ignore them and delay it. Do you know how my body is going to be? It will be filled with the germs and virus which are becoming stronger and alot. Therefore, I get diseases and that will poison every programmes what you are using from me.

Third, here are the solutions if you want to handle the fast network connections and good quality of sounds and videos. When you get mad on my network and games, I want you to calm down unless my gears will explode and it will never can be fixed by engineers. Maybe, if you have a chance go to see the engineers for me, I think you should give it to the engineer for a week or something to fix me. This is because I have so many injuries and broken materials.

Lastly but not the least, you should not be lazy to upgrade my protection system. This particular system is the most important to prevent all the virus from some of the sites. It even helps you to prevent from hacking to your computer. In addition, I wish you to delete programmes those are not needed for you because it takes so many megabites of my maximum place. When the unfortunate lucks come to you, it can effect me really bad and pain.

I will extremely expect to see you reflecting yourself about bad habits. Let me have a equal balanced life like yours. My hope is just being cool, relaxed and confident. Please think before you do something about me. Seldomly, mad virus will just wipe your screen off. Thank you, my dope highness.

Dear my mom,

Hi, welcome to my portfolio which has all my best and worst work that I did in this year. I am the guider who is going to introduce all my work, improvements and what I need to improve on. Although my grades are not good as the other student, I prefer you to be relaxed and try to understand what he’s saying. Whatever you don’t understand my words, I also prefer you to ask me about those.

In this year, I kept forgetting stuffs in and was lazy to do some of the assignments so there were few late assignments. Unfortunately, it means I had no responsibility and good mind to do the assignments. Furthermore, I was a bit noisy and didn’t listen to what teachers are talking about introductions. They sometimes get mad and think that I am bad. The problem is that I didn’t live ethically. I regret myself that I was going through the wrong way. At the last, I was not learning enthusiastically sometimes because I was thinking about outdoor activities.

As you see there are three problems that I need to correct and get myself to walk on the right way for my future. Firstly, for my responsibilities and my mind, I would like to turn all my assignments in the due time. I need to get my focus on them as well so that I can get a good grade. Secondly, to live ethically, I think I need to not open my mouse while teachers are talking introductions. When they finish the speech, I will ask them about questions or continue my speech with my friends. Lastly, I will learn enthusiastically with ending my thinks and start to focus on the teacher and friends sharing us information about the topics.

Power of the void

1. The International School of Kuala Lumpur provides an exceptional education that challenges each student to develop the attitudes, skills, knowledge and understanding to (silence) become a highly successful, spirited, socially responsible global citizen.



2. In the music, the composer gives us attentions with sudden emphasize and in the instant moment when it pauses, they get questions and try to solve what's the next. After the pause, it continues and give the audiences the solutions.



3. - Story -

1) ' The mystery box' It gave most of the void for the readers.

2) First, I guesses it was really good stuff to be voted. Even though, Tessie won the lottery but it wasn't nothing at all.

3) I wondered why did the story end without a conclusion and I got so much questions. After 5 P.M. when I opened the paper, I realized the teachers actually tried us to wonder about it to learn what are the voids.

4) The paper after the story filled me with a questions and the mind that gave me to solve what is it.

5) I thought black paper is for voting the people and the end, the person who gets alot will get a good thing. I learned the color was also a void.

6) I solve my questions which were what will be the result? and who is going to be voted?

7) The author made me lots of predictions and some of them were correct. It was quite amazing with putting a pause between the story.

8) I could understand this story easily without predicting if there was no void and stopping point.

9) This is because sudden emphasize or pauses by everything always give us predictions, questions and headache to solve it.

10) First, a pause gave me a headache to guess it. Second, before I opened the paper that Mr.Whiting gave me. I wondered what's the ending and what will be the given assignment for this. Last but not the least, honestly, I didn't get what did the lottery mean exactly.

Crispin

On the beyond chapters, Crispin had his own parents but now his mother was dead and his father was living somewhere on the earth or died like his wife. Therefore, Crispin is an orphan. Actually, He was called 'Asta's son' which means his mother's son. He is either called by a tile 'A wolf's head' because once he heard Aycliffe, the assasin and a lord talking about something in the secret place. Aycliffe noticed him was listening what they are saying. So Aycliffe started chasing him to be killed. Then the next day, Aycliffe blamed him that he did a bad crime. Among his mysterical travel, he met Father Quinel who saved his life several times. He gave lots of advice and told Crispin to believe Christianity. This is beacause if people believe in the god or Jesus Christ, they will probably keep them safe and bless their childeren. Furthermore, he told him that his father is whether a lord or on the high class. He gave Crispin a courage for his travel. Few chapters ago Crispin had a trap that almost get him into the death. Middle of escaping, he noticed that Father Quinel was dead. As Father Quinel told Crispin to walk for the path that always provide from the god, he continued the travel.

What makes me feel better? What kind of things give me a hope and realize me who I am? Here is my dream which is my hope to be a dancer in this age. The dance room in ISKL always make me feel exhilarating when audio starts pumping the music and vomiting the sounds and beats. My body doesn't stop to break dance until it is off.

Some people say I am crazy because I break dance with knowing what's going to happen if I get injuries. I poured so many laughter. I don't care about how people talk about it. Why? They should know about Hip Hop cultures. They also should feel how thankful it is. I won't tell you because you guys need to get what I mean by yourselves. In addition, whatever people think who I am, dance will make you feel really good that you can never ever explain if you know how to dance.

Furthermore, the interesting point is that in the dance crews in ISKL, we don't have to talk each other. By dancing, we can speak in a body language and can notice our personalities. On the other hand, everyone says that computer games or electronic games are much fun. I also know that it is fun . However, I like it to have fun in a physical and difficult way to grow my friendship with people more and more. All these examples are my golden or the red tree which describes me that I can feel that I am still alive. Yo Yo Peace Everyone.

Mr.Linden's Library

"Never ever touch the books and wonder about it! This is be the last time I am warning you!" Mr.Linden growled as like a huge bear at me. What type of books will be on the top of the tallest bookshelf in Mr.Linden's library? I have always been curious when he warned me not to touch or ever think about it. My curiousity became as like Pandora. Therefore, I told my mom to wake me up at 6:00 A.M. because I wanted to look what are on it before 8 A.M which time Mr. Linden will walk in library for work.

The next day, my plan began, I brought the library key that I copied it last time when I stole it from Mr. Linden's staff desk. Then opened the door. I tiptoed until front of the tallest bookshelf. I piled up lots of huge and heavy books on the edge of the bookshelf as silence as like a mouse at my home. I completed piling up seven books to reach the top. I found the stool that was beside the bookshelf and put it on the pile of the books. Finally, I felt really exited and hyper to see what will be on there. I jumped up and stand on the stool. Oh my god, I couldn't balance on the stool. At the sudden moment, I quickly held any books on it and fell on the ground. It was no used. The first body part I fell down was my arm but it was fine. Anyway, I quickly look at what I grabbed to know what I got, ' Shadow Magic of Darkness Sorcerer '

"Boom!" After the noise came under the bed that I was sleeping on it with smokes, I was reading the last page of the book, turning on a lamp in the darkness of the room. I was a bit scared and exhausted. I didn't know what happened so I kept reading the book. I almost finished the end part but once I closed my eyes off the book I started dreaming. At first, the scenes that I really hoped or wished showed up on the screen in cinema. However, few minutes later nightmares started and didn't end. I felt like dying in the melting desert and also thought time was stopped. Eventually, when I woke up, I firstly saw a brilliant light coming through the windows. I looked around and saw a mirror. Unbelievable, I looked really old! I got so many dead hairs on my mostly balded head. My mother ran to the bedroom where I was in. First, as I look at her I cried because I really missed my family in the real life. I asked her what happened. She answers " You remember Mr. Linden? He warned you about the books, right? The reason why he warned was that the books were all cursed. Therefore, later on reading the book about 60 years ago, you became a person who is in a vegetative state."

I am so sad, I regret myself being so unrespected. Afterlife, I swear that I will listen to people closely and seriously with respectation. " There is no time that we can turn it back for the history. One second of the time equals 100kg of golds." I said with deep breath of sigh.

Respect and Responsible

First of all, to respect other people and teachers. We need to give them attentions when they are talking while we are listening. The person whom is talking can't speak probably when we mess around or like chit-chatting with the audience. Furthermore, it includes the position of sitting and emotion of our face. Next, if the case is presentation, we should release our wonders after the speeches end. Eye contacting, it is one part of respect that gives the speaker attentions and confidents to start the speeches. So how we help them to talk is that we can look at them with good looking and opened mind or something else.

Responsible, once I think about this word, the example that I can think firstly is keep handing on my assignments and homework on due time and bringing supplies to the class. Nevertheless, we need to be on time in class.

FRIM-Tropical Rainforest

Few days ago, I went to FRIM. I disliked it because I had not a lot of experiences from camping and hiking. Furthermore I had some allergics to bugs and plants, also I can't see things properly if it is really dark.

So at first, I had lots of worries when I reached the base camp. However, luckily as I went over one activities by each time, I felt like my body is automatilcally learning how to prevent myself and imroving on tracking and hiking. At night, we went to hike and it was more darker as we went through the forest deeper and deeper. Luckily, because of the brilliant hand lights and the moon, I could survive and follow the director. Middle of the hike when we look up the sky, there was a map. Actually it wasn't a map, the shape with dark colour was the head of canopy. The guider said that the trees are shy each other so they put some spaces between them.

The Next day, there was a challenge for myself. Which is the two to four hours of hike and walking on the bridge that is hanging with ropes. I was exited and couldn't wait for trying bridge. When I hiked I was always on the first place with Kevin Ma, going further from the guiders. Finally I reached the place to walk on the bridge. As I step on the bridge, I get more exhilarating feelings and adrenalins. In addition, I found that I have no fear of the height. This is weird because when I was young , I used to have it but I am older now and don't have it anymore.

All over, the FRIM trip was critically helpful to me. It taught me about the rare enviornments and lots of stuffs. Although it was not fun, it was my second camping that gave me courage of the camping. Now I have no worries about it. Therefore, I have no problem on Malaysia week.

A child who is armed.

This is Kabul. He is from Afghanistan, this picture was taken by Steve Mccurry in 1993. On the foreground we can see that he is armed all around his body. The most striking element of this photo is that they are supposed to be educated but they are learning how to fight in the war during youth . Furthermore, as I see, to be honest, he looks old and short because of stresses in millitary and he can't eat too much. I know I should not say this rude language. However, I am feeling really sad to him because my life is so different with him. The reason why is if I want to buy something and eat food in the fridge, I can just do it freely. On the other hand, he can't because he's poor and need to do lots of tasks and trains for the war. It's not fair to let him die in the war, every child need rights to success when they are adults. Lastly but not the least what I want to say is that these children should be cared of all people over the world. Then, there will be some chances for them to be freedom and be happy in their life.

At school, I feel....

At school, I feel excited because sometimes there are some interesting festivals and events. For example, in the chinese new year or special days, there is a cultural dances and some special food in school hall way or around school. So I spend some time to see and learn what they do if they have some special days. On the other hand, there is some excitement that I usually have in Math, Science and ESL classes. First, in Math class, the method of how they solve the problems are slightly different and simple from Korean methods. Second, in science class, I love to be in a group and work on experiments that was given from Mr. Peavy. Third, in ESL, I learned lots of mythologies and nowadays, we are studying about Islam. Overall, what I mean is that I feel exciting when I learn new stuffs and improve my knowledge.

The time that I was really sad

Maybe 3 months ago, I heard that one of my family members is going to pass away. She is my mother's grandmother. Although I don't remember when I met her, I was so very sad and depressed. She was the one who made my name, inventions and also he developed some Korean cultural systems. Therefore, most of the people know her name in Seoul.

Why she is going to pass? Well, this was really sudden and frighten message came from Korea. I was back to Malaysia from Korea. When we were almost reached at home, my mom got a call from grandma and then, I heard that my grandma was crying and telling her very softly. My mom also cried a little bit and tried to break her crying. My mother's feelings and expressions were not really good so I couldn't talk to her very much for 3 days. However, I was so stuffy and really want my mom to get back her great feelings. I told her get back her feelings and start to pray to the Jesus. My mother’s whole family members prayed again and again every day with believing that there are powerful abilities.

Nowadays, interesting things were that she was supposed to be passed away on October nearly to my birthday but somehow she is still alive until now but I think she is having not comfortable life because of the cancer. I really hate this cancer because no one can cure it and make her better. Eventually, I really hope or wish that she will be better or if she is going to pass away, she will be going to heaven beside Jesus and when she get back to down here, she will be really great person who is like an angel.

Reflection of written Myth Story

Well, it was pretty hard time to understand the whole meaning and stories about every single greek myth stories but after that, without the sample story, retelling myth story was really simple to write though I got some grammers wrong. Whatever my story is, now is time to write a reflection of written Myth Story which is 'Pandora'.

First of all, what I was proud of doing between SLRs was thinking creatively and deeply on organizing stories, how to make the charactors in a cartoon form as well as sentence constructions. Furthermore, I also felt relexed when I keep checking again and again with writing. However, I am thinking that I am perfect, I still have alot of things to improve so that my writing become better. To improve myself, I need to learn more vocabularies, organizations and some grammers. Recording from Ms. Gonnerman, I have some problems on organization. Therfore, I will really try to write some notes or mind map of my work before I start writing. Overall, it was the most chellenging aspect of this assignment which I brought together with my best.
