Showing belief in someone can help a person to feel valued. In the short story called ‘Thank you Ma’am’ by Langston Hughes, the protagonist is Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones, who was very generous and polite. While she was stumping on the street, the other main character of the story is the boy called ‘Roger’ who tried to snatch her purse in the blast moment. However, it was too heavy so he fell down losing his balance. Losing the chance of the luck, she dragged him back to her house; asking him whether he’s hungry or if anyone is at his home. However, it was not an unlucky incident; actually, Mrs. Jones was trying to wash his face and give him supper to face himself for the new life. Besides, she was thinking about him to clean his devilish personality. Because of her kindness and belief in him Roger began to feel valued.  He trusted Mrs. Luella and wanted her to believe in him. When she turned around to cook and did not watch her purse and Roger, he didn’t run away with stealing her pocket. He also wanted to prove her that he can be trusted. So he asked her permission for going to the shop to buy something else like milk but she told him he doesn’t need to. She guessed he would like some milk so she was already planning to make a cocoa which has great compliment with milk. Mrs. Luella was having a strong belief in him than anyone else. Therefore, he might was touched by her every action and felt warm then it made him to know he has the balance of his importance among the people.

The movie called ‘You can make a difference’ begins in the classroom with the teaching of the child. Miss Thomson, the teacher was teaching her 5th grade class and told parents her every students are lovely and same. On the other hand, Teddy Stallard was different with other classmates. He was very unpleasant and troubled boy for her. Anytime, there were problems which are he’s not washing and has no friends. Unfortunately, at the end of the trimester, she realized his problems were caused by his mom’s death and father's ignorances to him. Then, she quit teaching subjects instead she started teaching children especially Teddy. Therefore Teddy got much interests in studies and improved than before. Every few years, teddy left a note or send letters to her that he’s growing up and last, he became a bachelor who had achieved his success. He always wrote, ‘You are the best teacher ever in my life’. There was another letter in the spring; Teddy told her that he’s getting married so he prefers her to be sitting his mother’s seat instead. After the marriage, they spent several conversations; Miss Thompson told him that he’s the one who taught her a lot more how to make a difference.

Comparing two short different stories, I realized that both of them have a similar phenomenon. Proves are there were the problems at the beginning and as the story goes on I could see each protagonists are dragging the two different boys of the story to make them feel valued and clever. The sources also gave me some descriptions between the stories about the human behavior. For example, if they show their strong belief in someone and themselves that they can do something impossible to possible, they are able to feel they are valued.

Betrayal Can Lead To Vengeance

One of the main themes in Roald Dahl's story called "Lamb to the slaughter" was 'The betrayal can lead someone to vengeance'. For example, if the girl is betrayed by the man who she loved. The feeling that comes out in the instant moment can lead her to kill him or make him almost die because of the anger. In this story, the protagonist, Mary Maloney was betrayed by her husband. The reason why was even though she was pregnant and also they were married together, he fell in love with the other woman. Furthermore, he proposed they should get divorced but he can't give lots of money and he will meet her for few times. Mary was furious by his rediculous words so she held the frozen lamb's leg than she swung it to his head. By that moment, he got huge pain from that powerful swing and was dead. Cause of the vengeance of betrayal, Mary still regrets her huge mistake by killing him.

Despite Mary Maloney's story was a fiction, there is the another story of Maradona's story which is non-fiction. Recently, few weeks ago, there was the 2010 World Cup soccer competition between Argentina and Germany. Argentina was deafeating by Germany. The only thing the citizens and the football cotches from the assosiation could only blame Maradona's teachings and his strategies because he's the only coach of the national team. Maradona, at least tried his best and gave them all of knownledge but he felt the betrayal from them. Therefore, he declined the permission by the assosiation to feel them they regret by blaming him. Unfortunately, he made the big mistake like Mary Maloney's story. No one felt sad about he's leaving the national team and no one consoled him. So the end, the assosiation created the new coach for the team and Maradona had to leave. Luckily, the coach caught him and said, he can take this job because he's the best. He felt better and proud of himself by that coach's praise.

In the conclusion, the vengeance of betrayal makes the person feel awful who you want them to be like but if the person or team are the ones that you really loved and to be with them, that is called - the huge mistake - which you will regret. Although there are many chances and choices to have something you love but if it is dead or broken, you can't really turn it back. I learnt, we must be serious about our actions that we are going to do. Is it going to tear the lovely soul or is it going to at least hurt their feelings so we need to think before we act.
